Literature Text

Your shoulders are soft under my chin,
spine rigid against my fingers,
arms tightly clutching,
with your hands running through my hair.

Shaking, gasping, doubled over,
your knees anguishing in cold,
I can't find what his eyes are hiding,
they're stone, eagle talons.

He says the mind breaks,
but as hard as I try to console
myself, yourself, saying that isn't true,
I don't know where we are.

I don't know why we're here,
I don't know why he's staring at you,
I don't know why the doors are different,
I don't know how to say anything other than

Please, don't cry.
I have weird dreams about people.
